Kungsleden

The Kungsleden, or in English translation - the kings path, is the point where Kathi and Shahar's ways cross.
Shahar is looking for a far place to be alone with nature. Kungsleden in Lapland (Sweden) is chosen (according to an advice of Andreas whom he met in Norway around the Galdopiggen). 17 hours in a train from Stockholm are needed to accomplish this distance. Shahar starts the path on July 12 2001.
Kathi wants to enjoy a piece of nature alone after participating in a botanical excursion for a week with a big group. She starts on July 14th and walks a very long distance on the first day. She also walks during mid-night due to weather problems.
On July 16th, Kathi manages to pass Shahar. Only a minor 'Hej' is exchanged between the two. Kathi keeps on with her fast walking and disappears behind the horizon.
They meet a second time next to an ice cold stream. This time Shahar starts a conversation. A discussion is opened: The border between the biological meaning of life and artificial intelligence.
The midnight sun serves as a perfect background for a beginning of a love story.
Kathi and Shahar spend a night in an emergency hut. They start the hike again at 4:30am in the following morning, but soon they separate.
Shahar climbs the Kebnekaise with the help of a navigation map. He gets stuck next to the top in a snow storm and spends the night in an emergency hut with broken windows and no heating.
Kathi continues with the path, and spends the night in a hut.
Kathi arrives to Kebnekaise hotel and takes a bed in a dormitory.
Shahar, with damaged knees, reaches the hotel in his last forces, and takes the last available bed in the last available room. The bed is the top one of a double bed complex. He begs the people in the reception for a location change, and a miracle delivers a different bed in a different room.
The bed is the lower one. Kathi smiles from the upper bed.

2 days later, with almost no sleep, Kathi and Shahar leave the Kungsleden together with a helicopter.

A train from Kiruna brings to Abisko, and a short walk from there leads to this bridge.
It is the first hanged bridge across the Abiskojaure river along which the first day's path goes.
Once crossing this bridge, one enter a new overwhelming land.

The Abiskojaure disembogues into a lake with a beautiful calm delta which is a birds natural reservation. When following the river upstream, it gets wild. The first few kilometers are in low altitude and escorted by birch trees.

Still the altitude is low, but already less trees. More low plants decorate the path.
Already in the first day you leave the birch forest and small willow bushes take over. Suddenly the view widens.
